Life always has a way of getting in the way of training when you have a wife and two young kids.
Last week I only ran twice - 2 miles on Tuesday and 6 miles on Sunday. Running on fresh legs was a treat, though, and I've really been feeling great while running. Hopefully I can run this half marathon on 9/29 without hurting myself between now and then. It would be nice to get through it relatively pain free. I'm thinking about shooting for a time of 2:11:00 or better, which would be 10 minute miles.
The swimming is improving. I'm up to doing 26 lengths of the pool (25 yards each), but still can't seem to do more than 3 lengths without feeling like I'm going to die! Last week I swam a total of 1,100 yards, which is 1,100 more than I swam 3 weeks earlier. I think I have 6 weeks until the Devil's Challenge tri, and I'm sure I'll continue to improve. I still need to figure out a way to fit in some time on the bike, though. I've heard that first hill is a KILLER!
Everyone else who swims laps at the pool where I've been going is training for Ironman, so I'm learning a little just by watching them. I'm also thinking very seriously about taking Erin's advice and getting a couple of lessons from a swim coach. Of course, I'll need to find some time first!

Mike's been doing the swim coach thing and it has done him a lot of good. and keep plugging away in the water, the endurance will come with time. then throw in some open water swims and you'll forget everything you have practiced....
Definitely do some hill work on the bike - Devils Challenge bike is a killer - lots of people walking thier bike up the hill.
NO WALKING up the hill. MIND OVER MATTER!!! You can do it...I know you can.
