Congratulations to my little sister, who completed her first Half Iron distance triathlon yesterday!!! Click the link to stop by her blog and leave her a nice comment if you have a free minute.
I've been running. Not as much as I should be, but it's been damn hot. I went out for an 8 mile run yesterday and felt great other than the 90 degree heat. I could have done 8, but decided to hang it up after 7 because I was out of water and was getting the chills a little, so no need to dehydrate myself further. I managed to lose 5 lbs during the run, and that was after taking in 40 ounces of fluid, which weighs about 2.5 lbs. That puts my sweat rate at about 5 lbs/hour on a hot humid day!
I've only logged 35 miles in the last 30 days, but that's a lot better than the 13 that I logged in the 30 days prior to that (after the Madison Marathon). I also got my first pair of bike shoes and Speedplay Zero clipless pedals over the weekend, so I'm ready to get rolling in preparation for a September tri.
First things first, though. The Ragnar Relay is only 1 month away, and I still need to get myself ready for that big hill. I've been working hard on the hills on my regular route. I used to walk UP the hills and run down when I was getting tired, but I've been making an effort to run UP all the hills because I don't want to walk the entire 2 miles up the monster hill during the relay.
In unrelated news, I decided to start reading everyone's blogs that I have linked on the right side of this page using Google Reader. It's just SO MUCH EASIER than clicking through each link, then back to my blog, then through to the next link, and on and on.

I use google reader too, tho you have to actually visit the sight in order to leave a comment! So, you know you're special if I leave a comment ;-)
Congrats little sis!!!
And get a-training for Ragnar! Those hills won't let up! Good luck!!
I'm doing the Ragnar Relay, too. What team are you on?? What leg are you running? I'm starting my team out - leg one, baby!!
Good luck running Ragnar. I ran the Utah, Wasatch Back Ragnar race a couple of months ago. What a freakin' blast. My best advice to you is, WET TOWLES. Put wet hand towels in ice water and keep handing them to your runners to keep them cool. I like to put them around my neck. I wish I was doing the race there. I bet it's beautiful.
