I Hate My Knees!

I was supposed to run 7 miles tonight. The first 2 miles went well, and after that my right knee pain became a significant problem. I cut off the run at 6 miles, and only ran on and off for about half of the last 4 miles because I could not run through the pain. It was so bad that I almost fell down a couple of times. Walking helped, but as soon as I started running again the pain came back, so I couldn't run more than about .2 miles at a time.

I don't know what to do with the half marathon only 10 days away. I'm scheduled to run 10 miles on Sunday, but I'm seriously considering just doing a few 2 mile runs from now until the race and just hoping I can finish without collapsing.

It's very frustrating to train for 15 weeks and have this happen a week before the event I've trained so hard for.

Go see a good orthopaedist. I had major knee surgery in 2000 after tearing my patellar tendon, acl, meniscus, and other stuff and there are stretching and strengthing exercises you can do to help strengthen other muscles so you are not so hard on the knees. Also you may have a problem that can easily be treated. Good Luck. I am thinking of doing the 5K on Sunday. The Evansville Duathlon is the following weekend and I am trying to take it easy the week before. See you later.
