Whew! What a Week!

I just finished my long run for Week 7, which was a 7 mile run. I actually warmed up by walking 1/4 mile, then ran 6 miles straight at a 11:40 pace (a little over my 11:02 target), and then cooled down with a 3/4 mile walk. This one was both a physical and mental challenge. I was really hurting at times and really had to challenge myself mentally to keep running, but knowing that I only have to run a total of 10 miles in Week 8 kept me going. After the run, however, I had some pretty severe pain in my left knee. It felt like IT band syndrome, so I'll need to keep an eye on that and possibly learn some stretches for the IT band.

My total mileage for my runs this week was 14.5, which was right on plan. I only biked one day this week though, as I have been feeling pretty ill with another cold and sinus problems. It's really pretty amazing that I was able to complete all the runs, so I'm pretty proud of that accomplishment.

The weather is getting nice, so I hope to get outside and run more this week, which will surely be tougher than running on the treadmill. I also bought a road bike today, so I hope to do some biking outside as well which will be a nice change. I'm pretty excited about the bike. Now I just need to find a buyer for my virtually unused 2003 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp!

If I hear of anyone looking for a MT bike I'll give them your email address. Nicejob on the 7 miler. I had to skip it because of my sciatic nerve issue. Going to attempt my first run in a week tonight. PLEASE don't RAIN!!!
