Prison Break

I broke out of the prison tonight and ran outside for the first time this season. It was almost 70 degrees when I got home from work, so I just couldn't resist.

I did my usual 2 mile Tuesday run with a short warm-up and cool-down, and it went well. I ran the 2 miles in about 19 minutes, which was better than the 22 minute target I had tonight. Of course, my average heart rate for the run was 156 BPM, which is a little higher than I wanted, but I survived. My max HR was 180 which is also pretty high for an "easy" run. I'll need to work on that. I ran at my fastest pace this year, so I was very happy with that.

Last week I found out that sometimes life gets in the way of training. I biked on Monday and ran on Tuesday. Then I didn't work out the next 3 days because I worked late Wednesday night, and then my parents were in town on Thursday and Friday and I went to the high school girls state basketball tournament games with them. I really need to figure out a way to work out in the morning so this doesn't happen every time I have something do do in the evening. That's two weeks in a row that I missed workouts and I can't keep doing that if I'm going to run 13.1 miles in late May.
