I've officially completed 6 weeks of my 16 week training program for the Madison Half Marathon on May 27th! I was determined to put in the planned miles this week and I DID IT! My totals for the week were 13 miles of running and 24 miles of cross training on the bike.
My run pace is just a little slower than I'd like, so I'll continue to work on that. Still, I was very happy to complete 6 miles today. I walked briskly for the first and last half mile to warm up and cool down, and I ran the other 5 miles without stopping at an average pace of 11:24, which was a little above my target of 11:02. I was less than two minutes over my planned pace for those 5 miles though, so I'm very close and I'm still VERY happy with my progress.
I'm also very pleased that I was able to run 5 miles straight tonight just over my target pace without getting my heart rate over 165 BPM. That's my lowest max HR in the 6 runs since I bought the monitor, so I'm making great progress on my overall level of fitness.
