Being Sick Sucks!

Week 2 is in the books. On Monday I biked 10 miles on the trainer, and on Tuesday I ran 2 miles on the treadmill. I did both at my fastest pace to date, which is amazing because I was pretty ill with a cold and what turned out to be a sinus infection. By Wednesday I felt like crap, so that was it for the week. I went to the doctor on Friday since I had the day off at work. As expected, he diagnosed a sinus infection, prescribed an antibiotic, and yesterday was the first day I really started to feel human again.

Now I'm two days into Week 3, still improving my pace and adding more miles to both the bike and the run. If I hit my targets this week, I'll run 9 miles and bike about 33 miles. So far, since I started training in January on the bike, I've logged a total of 121 miles, and other than getting sick last week I'm very pleased with my progress and have no doubt that I'll be able to start and finish the half marathon in May.

Congrats to my sister, Cristen, whose training is going great! By now, she should have finished the indoor IronMan Triathlon that she started on February 1st! THAT'S impressive! Guess I'll need to build a pool in the back yard to keep up with her. Of course, right now that would only be good for ice skating so maybe I'd be better off looking into a health club or YMCA membership.

Hey Bro. Glad to hear you are feeling better. I feel your pain as I am fighting off the crud that has been going around as well. Even had to miss my Tuesday morning interval work with the Tri team...BUMMER. You have gotten in a LOT of miles over the past month. Keep it up!! Gets boring on the trainer doesn't it... At least you can plant it in front of the TV for a little entertainment!

I watch movies while I'm on the trainer... 45 minutes at a time!
