Week 1 of my training for the LaCrosse Marathon is complete, and it actually went better than I had expected.
Looking back at my logs, I had only run once for a total of 2 miles in the 3 months since the Ragnar Relay. That's just sad! I figured I was in for a world of hurt, and this week would be like starting all over again from the beginning.
I will admit, the first 3 mile treadmill run on Monday hurt. BAD! But I did it and it was all I needed to prepare me for another 3 mile treadmill run on Wednesday. That one went better, and I did it about a minute faster. Today I actually felt great, and did another 3 miles on the treadmill in about 2 minutes less than the Wednesday run.
I'm nowhere near ready to start doing any real speed work or high miles yet, but I'm glad to be back in the saddle and still able to walk.
Next week will look a lot like this week, but I'll add a mile to the Sunday run bringing my total for the week to 10 miles.
Oh, I forgot to mention. I HATE running on the treadmill, but I hate running in the cold, snow and ice even more, so I'll be logging a lot of miles on a conveyor belt for the next several months.

Glad you got thru the first week. I hope the second week is easier. I like the treadmill if it's hard speed sets. I hate it if it's just plain running. Sorry you are stuck there. Do you listen to music or watch tv or anthing?
Nice first training week! Keep it up!!
LOL. It was actually a little embarrassing to post that I only ran 9 miles in a week, but that's what I get for taking 3 months off!
Carol, I actually listen to my ipod and watch TV while I'm on the treadmill. I guess I look at treadmill training as mental toughness training, because NOTHING can make me enjoy it, but I do it anyway.
