Reliable?

I ended my last post by saying I'd try to be more reliable about posting, and that was two and a half weeks ago! Oops! Still, this is my 50th post in this blog, so that has to count for something... Right? Ok, it probably doesn't. Maybe when I get to 100 we can all have a little party or something.

I've logged 30 miles on the treadmill since then, and today I finished week 3 of my 27 week training plan for the Madison Marathon. Only 24 more weeks to go, and I'm still feeling GREAT, even after logging 7 miles on the treadmill today. I thought I'd die of boredom, but somehow I've been able to stay focused and the runs have been enjoyable. Ask me again in February, when my long runs will be up to 12 miles, which means I'll be on the treadmill for over two hours! I'm really not looking forward to that, especially since I always have to stop after an hour and reset the thing, because I can't program it for more than an hour. Grrrrrrr...

I have yet to get in the pool or on the bike, so I really need to find some time and motivation to add those to my training plan. I think I'm going to order a fluid trainer for my road bike, and I still want to find a swim coach to help with my technique. Hopefully the new year will motivate me a little more, because all I seem to have the time and energy for right now is my 2 runs per week.

I also noticed that I have 313 miles on my current pair of shoes. Since all my miles will be on the treadmill through the winter, which is padded and doesn't wear the shoes as much as the pavement, I'm thinking I may just keep running in them until I get back outside - unless I start having a lot of pain or an injury.

Oh, and just to keep myself honest, I registered for the Madison Marathon today!
